Harvey Taylor’s first solo exhibition opens at Gateway Gallery this March
We’re pleased to be welcoming Channel Crossing, a new solo exhibition by multi media artist Harvey Taylor, to Gateway Gallery this March.
Opening on Thursday 19 March 2026, Channel Crossing is Harvey’s first solo exhibition and brings together visual art, spoken word, performance poetry and percussion in a show that explores the idea of “channeling” and where creative ideas come from.
For Harvey, creativity can sometimes feel like something that arrives unexpectedly, almost as if it comes from somewhere beyond conscious thought. That sense of receiving ideas, rather than deliberately searching for them, sits at the heart of this exhibition.
Using the idea of a channel as a way of thinking about life, memory, experience and creative flow, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the things that shape us as we move through the world. Some journeys are direct, while others take their time, shift course or return us to places we thought we had left behind. Through a mix of visual work and live performance, Channel Crossing explores how those experiences can influence the way we think, feel and create.
The exhibition also touches on current cultural and political themes, opening up space for reflection and conversation.
The private view takes place on Thursday 19 March from 5pm to 7pm, with live spoken word and performance from around 5.30pm to 6.30pm. It promises to be an evening that offers something a little different, combining exhibition, performance and discussion in one space.
The exhibition continues until 7 April 2026.
Channel Crossing Conversations
Two informal Channel Crossing Conversations are happening on 26 March and 2 April, from 5.15pm to 6.45pm. These sessions will give visitors the chance to talk more about the ideas behind the work and the creative process itself.
Harvey is also hoping to spend much of the exhibition period in the gallery, so there may be opportunities to meet him, chat about the work and experience the show in a more informal way.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
