New Episode of The Art Shrew Podcast: Harvey Taylor at Gateway Gallery

A new episode of The Art Shrew Podcast is now live, featuring a conversation with multi disciplinary artist Harvey Taylor ahead of his current exhibition at Gateway Gallery.

Hosted by Lucy Caddel, the episode offers a relaxed and thoughtful insight into Harvey’s creative world. Spanning printmaking, drawing, illustration and collage, the conversation also moves beyond visual art into music, performance poetry, and the wider ideas that sit behind his practice.

Harvey speaks openly about the way different disciplines overlap in his work, and how creativity doesn’t always arrive in a neat or predictable way. There’s a sense throughout the episode that making art is less about control and more about responding to something that is already there, waiting to be shaped.

The conversation connects closely with Channel Crossing, Harvey’s current exhibition at Gateway Gallery, which runs until 7 April 2026. Listening to the episode alongside the exhibition adds another layer to the experience, offering context, personality and a deeper understanding of the ideas behind the work.

Visitors also have the opportunity to take these ideas further through Harvey’s Channel Crossing Conversations, informal sessions taking place in the gallery on Thursday 26 March and Thursday 2 April, from 5.15pm to 6.45pm. These sessions invite audiences to reflect on creativity, process, and the experiences that shape artistic work, with the podcast acting as a natural starting point for those conversations.

At its core, this episode feels like an extension of the exhibition itself. It’s not just about what is on the walls, but about the thinking, curiosity and lived experience that sit behind it.

The episode is around 40 minutes long, making it an easy listen whether you are familiar with Harvey’s work or discovering it for the first time.
