About the Gateway Gallery
Gateway Gallery is part of The Gateway Education and Arts Centre, a space built for learning, creativity and community. We’re here to make art feel open and welcoming, whether you’ve been collecting for years or you’re just starting to explore what you like.
At the heart of what we do is connection. Every exhibition, event and workshop is about creating a place where people can meet, share ideas, and discover new perspectives. The gallery is volunteer-run and shaped by local people, so there’s always a sense of community behind the walls.
We believe art should be accessible. Our exhibitions are free to visit, and we work with artists whose voices and stories deserve to be heard. From bold colour and abstract shapes to quiet still lifes and personal reflections, the work we show is chosen because it speaks to something real.
Gateway Gallery supports both emerging and established artists, giving them a platform to share meaningful work with the people of Shrewsbury and beyond. We’re proud to be part of a wider creative network in the town, and to offer a space where art isn’t just something you look at, but something you can be part of.
Our History
The gallery began life as Gallery 3 inside The Gateway Centre and has always been run with the help of local volunteers and the support of SADAA (Shrewsbury and District Arts Association).
Over the years it has grown into what is now Gateway Gallery, a contemporary space dedicated to showing original art in the heart of Shrewsbury. While the name has changed, the spirit remains the same: a commitment to creativity, community, and giving artists a space to be seen.
